Reading Time: 6 minutes

I’ve been to Thailand multiple times and each time just isn’t enough. Watching Phil Rosenthal, from Somebody Feed Phil, explore the Bangkok food scene reminded me of how sweet the people of Thailand are and how delicious and inexpensive the cuisine is. It’s definitely one of our favorite destinations and we hope that you’ll fall in love with it too!

Below is a List of Locations from Somebody Feed Phil’s Bangkok episode. Phil also makes a quick excursion to Chiang Mai to hang out with the Elephants! We absolutely love PHIL!

#1 Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market

Phil is accompanied by street food expert, Chawadee Nualkhair (aka the Bangkok Glutton), to explore the floating markets of Bangkok. In Lat Mayom Floating Market, they try the iconic Boat Noodles with beef balls, rice noodles and a flavor packed broth. All the food is served from and eaten on the boats.

Address: Bang Ramat Rd, Khwaeng Bang Ramat, Khet Taling Chan, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10170, Thailand

Next to the Floating Market is a Street Food market where Phil and Chawadee try out a coconut ice cream dessert that you can top with a variety of fruits, beans and sauces. I can’t wait to try this on a hot summer day in Bangkok.somebody feed phil bangkok coconut sundae dessert

#3 Author’s Lounge

Phil heads to the Author’s Lounge, a place that has been around since 1976 and has an inspirational place for writers. The Author’s Lounge serves Marco Polo tea and small bites packed with flavor. His favorite bite is the mango sticky rice dessert (pictured below). The Author’s Lounge is located in the Madarin Oriental–a hotel worth visiting for the decor and views.

#4 Err

Phil then meets with a real life author and travel writer, Laurence Osborne, at Err. Err is run by Bo and Dylan (aka. Bo.lan), husband and wife duo. They sampled Err’s delicious passion fruit cocktail and ate Movie Chicken (or Nang Kai Tort), a dish made with the crispy skin of a small chicken. The texture of the dish is like eating crispy chips.

I’ve dined at Err and absolutely loved the drinks and food. The decor is very retro – colorful and funky. My favorite dish was the Movie Chicken and spicy green bean salad. I would definitely come back!

Err is an easy walk from Wat Pho temple and the Grand Palace.

Address: Err, 394/35 Maha Rat Rd, Khwaeng Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang, Khet Phra Nakhon, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10200, Thailand

#5 Yaorawat Road Market

Phil heads to Yaorawat Road in Chinatown for its incredible Thai street food scene. At Yaorawat Road Market, or Talat Kao, Phil orders a duck soup from a stand for only $1! He also tries durian, a spiky and stinky fruit that tastes like a creamy custard. For some people the smell is like spoiled pork meat. I personally love the taste and smell of  durian and eat it in copious amounts whenever I’m in SE Asia.

The best way to get to the market is by Tuk Tuk.
